In Minneapolis, a protester is fatally shot by a Homeland Security agent.


Another person was shot by federal agents, according to the governor of Minnesota. At a press conference on Saturday afternoon, Gov. Minnesota would take charge of the investigation, according to Tim Walz, who criticized federal authorities severely. Walz claimed to have viewed the incident's video. The man was identified as Alex Jeffrey Pretti, a 37-year-old veteran's affairs intensive care nurse.

During the news conference, Minnesota Department of Public Safety Commissioner Bob Jacobson also spoke, urging calm and restraint. “His family and friends are feeling unimaginable heartbreak and trauma,” Jacobson said.  I am aware that Minnesotans and members of our community will support this man's family and friends. On social media, the City of Minneapolis issued a statement regarding the incident in which they called for calm. "We are aware of reports of another federal law enforcement-related shooting in the vicinity of 26th Street W and Nicollet Ave." “We ask the public to remain calm and avoid the immediate area,” they wrote.

In a statement, officials from Homeland Security stated that at 9:05 When an individual approached U.S., DHS officers were conducting "a targeted operation in Minneapolis against an illegal alien wanted for violent assault." Armed with a 9 mm semi-automatic handgun, Border Patrol agents." The armed suspect violently resisted the officers' attempts to disarm him. An agent fired defensive shots out of fear for his own life as well as the lives and safety of his fellow officers. “The individual was pronounced dead at the scene,” the statement stated. Medics on the scene provided immediate medical assistance. Officials said the suspect had two magazines and no identification.

The statement added, "Crowd control measures were deployed for the safety of the public and law enforcement" after "about 200 rioters arrived at the scene and began to obstruct and assault law enforcement on the scene." The National Basketball Association announced that the Golden State Warriors' and Minnesota Timberwolves' game at Target Center on Saturday will be postponed to prioritize public safety amid the unrest. The match has been moved to Sunday, January 25 at 5:30 p.m., according to the league. ET, at Target Center.
 The incident is the third shooting involving federal agents in Minneapolis in less than three weeks, following the Jan. 7 fatal shooting of 37-year-old Renee Good by an ICE officer and a separate injury shooting earlier in the month. The governor's comments come amid ongoing protests and legal disputes over the incident.

A U.S. soldier killed Good, a mother of three. ICE agent during a federal operation, which is currently the subject of an investigation.
